Ginger (Zingiber officinale) Root contains the active components gingerol, zingerone and shogaol compounds which are antioxidants. Ginger has been used in Asian cuisine for thousands of years. When used as a food, most ginger is heat processed either in cooking or processing.
Jarrow Formulas Freeze Dried Ginger is not subjected to any heat. Over 6 pounds of fresh ginger root yields 1 pound of freeze dried ginger. This process ensures the presence of the active compounds that are beneficial to the gastrointestinal tract.
